The Morris L Walker Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Morris L Walker Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in September 2009, in loving memory of Morris “Mo” Walker, who was killed in Afghanistan while on patrol defending his country that he loved so much. He was awarded a Bronze Star Medal and a Purple Heart posthumously for his sacrifice along with several other awards and accolades.
The MLW Memorial Scholarship honors Mo’s life and future ambitions by encouraging the pursuit of higher education to local high school students.
The purpose of the scholarship fund is to annually award one graduating senior at The Fayetteville Academy with a $1000 scholarship to assist with the cost of attending a 4 year college or university. The award recipient must demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence, participation in extra-curricular activities, and an active pursuit of future ambitions and goals despite any hardships or challenges.
To apply for this scholarship you must be a graduating senior at Fayetteville Academy in Fayetteville, North Carolina, accepted to a four year college or university, have a cumulative academic GPA of at least a 3.0, and participated in extra curricular activities. Financial need will be taken in consideration. An essay on future ambitions and goals will be required.
